In Love With That I Do Not Know

“I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met.”

I heard this when I was younger. I thought, in the very literal sense, that it meant “I like to travel.” Here’s how I define it today.

Before I started writing, I believed that by tracking my every word I could embrace new conversation and thought initiation with myself and others. I’m in love with new concepts and new ideas that brilliant and intellectually mindful people will share with me someday. Each day is an opportunity and it comes with a chance to discover something. And the more I search, the more I find myself.

In the past years, it has been an unbelievable journey in regards to the amount of successes I’ve seen around me purely out of dedicated individuals chasing a dream. I’m in love with the idea that life is hard as hell, but we continuously see those who break free and make it in the face of adversity.

Take a person at their worst. Strip them of all they have. Then, when all else seems to fail- give them even the slightest bit of something to hold on to. I’m in love with the potential we have to make something of nothing.

On the contrary, take a man who has everything and see how little he pushes to learn about himself. Satisfaction in itself appeals to so many, yet is so toxic. I’m in love with the ability to discern seemingly good from truly good; how we as people can take a positive state and let it engulf us vs. taking an extremely negative state and become successful.

I suppose the point of all my examples to decipher the true meaning of my quote, is that I am in love with that I do not know. Possibility intrigues me, opportunity opens my eyes, and adversity motivates you.

I’m in love with my One Day at a Time blessing.
